About the composer: Jorene Garrison

I was blessed to have been raised in a Christian home. My dad died in Germany in World War II, right before my second birthday. I praise God that my mother took her responsibility of raising my brother and I seriously. She taught us righteousness and morality. We attended the Baptist church in my hometown in central Kentucky until I left for college in 1960.

I had heard all of the Bible stories concerning Israel, but it seemed to be history and not anything God was doing today. In 1972, my husband and I, along with our two small sons, moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland. It was here that the Lord, who I had heard about all of my life, revealed Himself to me. Still, Israel was only a place talked about in the Bible and a country far away.

We only lived in Maryland for a year. We then moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where my husband attended seminary preparing to become a pastor. It was in St. Pete that I started listening to a Jewish radio program and thinking,

"the same blood that ran through Abraham's veins now runs through the veins of every Jewish person today!"

That thought was profound to me. It made me realize the uniqueness of the Jewish people. This seed that was planted in my heart was the beginning of the road which the Lord was to lead us down years later. Since then He has put us in a local congregation, of which my husband is the pastor, and has told us to identify with Israel and the Jewish people. We are slowly learning how to do that. We see Israel and the Church of Messiah as God's two vessels in the world today working together to bring the Kingdom of God to earth.
